The 60th edition of BBC Sports Personality of the Year will be broadcast live from Leeds on Sunday, 15 December 2013.
The star-studded BBC Sport awards show will take place at the First Direct Arena in Leeds, in front of an estimated 12,000 capacity crowd.
The Leeds Arena site covers an area of over 5 acres, and has been selected as the preferred location by senior councillors in Leeds for the construction of the multi-million pound venue. The council will own the land and the building, the Leeds Arena will be managed by the selected operator SMG.

The first direct arena will have a pre-launch event on July 24th with Bruce Springsteen, followed by its official opening by Sir Elton John on the 4th of September.
The Quo will be playing the 13,500-capacity venue on December 17 2013, it has been confirmed.
Support band will be 10CC, who scored massive chart successes during the 1970s with songs such as Rubber Bullets and I’m Not In Love.
Tickets for the Status Quo gig are available from £38.50 and go on sale from Friday 12th April 2013
Tickets for the Depeche Mode gig are priced £45 and go on sale on Friday 12th April 2013.
Depeche Mode will play the 13,500-capacity venue on Wednesday, November 13 2013
The world famous band are booked on stage at the Leeds Arena on Wednesday 27th November 2013 as part of their all-new greatest hits tour.
